Recalculating

I don't know about other GPS devices, but My Garmin's female voice can be annoying, especially when I make a wrong turn and "she" immediately declares in a nasal-sounding manner that she is "recalculating" my route. And I'll have to admit that nine times out of ten, I make the announcement before "she" does -- I knew I blet it!

Each of us has our own internal GPS device. A song by my favorite group, The Newsboys, declares that it is "A Spirit Thing." The lyrics further describe it as an "early warning sign," a Circuit Judge in the brain," and a "holy nudge."

It seems lately that wherever I turn, someone or something is competing for my attention. All that "noise" around me can sometimes block my hearing of the Spirit's early warning system. Today I am making a commitment to not only listen to the nudge of the Holy Spirit, but to obey the message without becoming annoyed. That way I'll just be "recalculating" myself to stay on course and in His will.
